Life size cribs
The Allgäu sculptor and artist Robert Liebenstein has created a very special nativity scene that adorns Kempten's town hall in the run-up to Christmas: hand-carved, almost life-size nativity scene figures made of Swiss stone pine delight many visitors every year.
Bründl crib
Adolf Bründl worked on a nativity scene for decades and expanded it year after year. The famous Bründl crib counts more than 200 figures and animals and can be visited on Sundays and holidays (December until the end of January) in the crypt of the Basilica of St. Lorenz. In the center is depicted the birth of Christ, surrounded by various scenes. Adolf Bründl bequeathed the baroque nativity scene to the ‘Unterillertaler Kempten’ association.
Crib exhibition
In the foyer of the town hall during the Christmas market, self-made nativity scenes made by students of the Krippenbauschule und Hobbyschnitzer Kempten e. V. will be on display.
