Join us as we track the history of the Romans as part of a visit to the former Roman town of Cambodunum. During a classic guided tour of the town, you will learn about Kempten's eventful history which dates back over 2,000 years. Roman buildings and archaeological finds in the Archaeological Park Cambodunum (APC) tell us about the lives the Romans led. Various stations along the adventure trail through the APC invite you to get stuck in, and the free Cambodunum app allows you to immerse yourself in everyday Roman life with the help of virtual reality.

Arriving, parking and getting around

To get to your vacation in Kempten there are numerous options, because the city is excellently connected. It is located directly on the A7 highway, has an eastern railway station and a main train station and Memmingen Airport is not far away. The inner-city bus network is well developed and linked to that of the region, so that public transport is an alternative to the car for your local mobility. The two long-distance bike paths, the Allgäu and Iller bike paths, intersect in Kempten, making the region easy to explore by bike.
If you are on vacation in Kempten by car, whether your own, a hired car or a car-sharing model, there are numerous parking options in and near the city centre. We show you which parking spaces and parking garages are available and where you can charge your e-car. For touring coaches, there are parking spaces not far from the city centre, as well as a stop option to get on and off the bus directly at St.-Mang-Platz.
